quote

This is a quote from Elizabeth Esther's interview with Frankie Schaeffer, son of Frank Schaeffer. This was his comment on the Obama-is-a-socialist evangelical fear-mongering. He compares it to the alarmism about the rapture in the 70's.

"They're trading in the same currency of fear, except it's a secularized version. It's no longer about serving Jesus. It's about preserving capitalism. Glenn Beck is James Dobson warmed over and re-packaged for cable television."

Hah. That made me chuckle

Yeah, Schaeffer's right on.

It's so odd and funny, he and his dad, Jerry Falwell, Hal Lindsey, Dobson et al were all such influences on me (and my church community) while I was growing up, and he has modified so many of his political assumption and conclusions. I've got to say, I really like and appreciate the new Frankie.

Yeah, I think I was a little past Falwell and Lindsey... but Dobson certainly was a big figure in my house. I have Frankie's book and want to read it... I wish I had more time!

You can have my copy if you need one (you can't have my time though LOL); I got it very cheap. Let me know.
