Random moments and thoughts in bullet form....

- Last night when we were going over our English lesson with the refugee family from Myanmar, the pouring rain cleared away and a huge bright double rainbow showed up outside their living room window. Isaac said, "Oh, look at the rainbow!" and pointed out the window. Tee Reh gasped and said, "Oh, you can point at rainbows?!" Hah! Apparently it's a superstition in their culture that if you point at a rainbow your pointing finger will wither and bend permanently. He told us obviously it wasn't true... but still wouldn't point at the rainbow!

- We're moving! We signed a lease (with the roomies) on an apartment closer to downtown Dallas and Isaac's grad school. I spent some time yesterday check yelp.com for close by restaurants and stores, and got all excited about exploring new places. AND one of the hippest coffee shops in Dallas, the Pearl Cup, is just down the road. SWEET. Our new place was chosen most of all for its updated and open kitchen and living room. SO excited about that, as our current kitchen is... well.. crappy.

- This is Isaac's finals week, and then he's off of the regular school schedule. Yaaaaaay! He needs a break. He does have one summer class and has to prepare for his internship teaching in East Asia this summer, but anything out of the usual is good.

- It's up in the air as to whether Isaac's job will continue next semester or not. If the work continues, he can continue there, but the organization's contract may be up and not renewed. We're starting to look for high schools in the Dallas area that could use an English, History, or Bible/Theo teacher, all things he's taught before at the high school level. It would be SO nice for him to find a part time job at the high school level... I admit I don't have high hopes for that, but I do wish something would fall into our laps!

- Just finished reading Frank Schaeffer's book "Crazy for God: How I Grew Up as One of the Elect, Helped Found the Religious Right, and Lived to Take All (Or Almost All) Of It Back" It was fascinating. I'll review it on my other blog sometime soon.

- At the end of the month we'll be headed up to Chicago for my sister-in-law's wedding. I'm SO excited about this, because it will be Chicago at a beautiful time of year, family, a wedding (with dancing - a first for this family!), time with our old friends, and vacation. Difficult to beat that, right?
